About the Project
SWOS, previously Southwest Ocean Services, is a synthetic rope fabricator that is breaking new ground in many industries with new synthetic rope technology. SWOS reached out to Hawkeye to analyze the identity of the company and the current perception of the brand. Working with the SWOS team, Hawkeye hosted internal and external discovery interviews and work sessions in order to develop a sound strategy for not only the design of the brand, but also the online presence and user experience of those using the SWOS website, and the positioning of the company with regard to the SWOS competitive set.
The design of the identity was focused on creating a bold and timeless mark using the simple forms that synthetic rope provides us. The mark creates an ambigram while also communicating the first letter in the company name. The mark was used to create a pattern that was carried throughout the paper and literature system. The website was designed and developed to be a fully responsive library of content that offered any and all information pertaining to the recent advances in synthetic rope technology. A custom content management system (CMS) was developed for the site, allowing the SWOS team to manage the site’s content and offer new and relevant material on a regular basis efficiently.
The largest impact for SWOS was how people have started to use the website as a “go-to” option for information and knowledge pertaining to synthetic rope. Extensive content research and compilation was done so that the user can find and acquire information very easily and quickly.
